Eligibility and reservation window

The announced window is October 27 through November 3, 2026. Heroic-or-higher benefits in the official product information include name reservation. This is a separate entitlement from guaranteed beta access; the two should not be used interchangeably when comparing upgrades.

A qualifying purchase gives access to the reservation opportunity, not a guarantee that a particular name will be available. Check the region and account attached to the purchase before the window opens. A beta character’s name should not be assumed to reserve the same name for full release.

Why does the game ask for two names?

Forever’s announced realmless structure uses a first name and a secondary name. The complete combination is the region-wide identity. This provides more possible names without relying on the old realm-by-realm naming boundary.

For illustration, “Arlen Oak” and “Arlen Reed” are different full combinations. These examples do not indicate name availability. The important comparison is the entire name, not the first part alone.

Display settings and identity

The official explanation allows you to hide the secondary name in your own display. That presentation setting does not make the secondary part stop being part of the character’s identity or guarantee that other interfaces show only the first name.

When coordinating with friends or reporting a character, use the complete name and region as needed. Blizzard’s published path is Escape → Options → Nameplates → My Secondary Name. Uncheck that setting to hide the secondary name in the world; the announcement says it still appears in chat.

Prepare before reservations open

  1. Confirm the qualifying upgrade on the account you plan to use.
  2. Choose the region where you will play and coordinate faction and ruleset with friends.
  3. Prepare several complete name combinations in preference order.
  4. Read the official reservation instructions when the window opens.
  5. Confirm the result shown by the reservation interface rather than assuming a submitted name succeeded.

Reservations open October 27. Check the official instructions at that time for the exact submission process.

How many names can I reserve?

The linked official information does not confirm a per-account reservation limit, exact character-length restrictions or repeated-letter rules. Do not assume the old Classic rules apply.

This missing limit matters if you plan to reserve names for many alternate characters. Keep a prioritized list and wait for the official account rule instead of purchasing on an assumption about quantity. Character choice can still be planned now with the class selector and race/class matrix.

If a name is refused, see name already exists. Agree on a ruleset with friends before you reserve.
